Dusty Strings Jam, 2014/09/14
Sarah was out sick this month, so we had a kind of informal jam with me nominally hosting. It was a gorgeous day out, so thanks to everyone who came down to the basement to jam! Here’s what we played:
- Little Rabbit, Where’s Your Mama (D)
- Soldier’s Joy (D)
- Midnight on the Water (D)
- Liberty (D)
- Fisher’s Hornpipe (D)
- Heel Fly (D)
- Over the Waterfall (D)
- Peter Kiefer’s (waltz) (D)
- Whiskey Before Breakfast (D)
- Bill Cheatham (A)
- Boil ‘Em Cabbage Down (A)
- Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine (D)
- Cluck Old Hen (A dor)
- Shady Grove (A dor)
- Will the Circle Be Unbroken (G)*
- Little Birdie (G)*
- Old Joe Clark (A)
- Ragtime Annie (D/G)
- Angeline the Baker (D)
- Wind That Shakes The Barley (D)
- Red Haired Boy (A)
- Red Wing (G)
- Tennessee Waltz (D)
- Pretty Little Dog (Am)
- They Gotta Quit Kickin’ My Dawg Around (G)*
- Jambalaya (on the Bayou) (C)*
Turns out most of the tunes I can think of on the spot are in D. Huh. I should probably work on that. Asterisks in the list above indicate songs that were sung — I think this is a great development, and we should have more singing in general, even though it kind of terrifies me personally to sing.
