Dusty Strings Jam, 2015/07/12
Sarah was out of town, so I was guest host for the Dusty Strings jam in July. It was a completely different group of folks than are usually there and we spent more time socializing than normal, so there were fewer tunes played. I had fun, and even taught a tune I didn’t know all that well. Here’s what we played (almost entirely in A, for a change):
- Soldier’s Joy (D)
- Old Joe Clark (A)
- Red-Haired Boy (A)
- Tune of the Month: Red Steer (A)
- Pretty Little Widow (A)
- A great Swedish tune I utterly failed to catch the name of
- Three Little Birds (Bob Marley)
- Cherokee Shuffle (A)
- Soldier’s Joy Waltz (D)
- Sandy Boys (A)
- Shenandoah Falls (A)
- My Own House Waltz (A)
The Swedish tune was from someone who’s coming out of the fantastic Seattle Lilla Spellmanslag, which is kind of a traditional Scandinavian youth folk orchestra. If you’re between the ages of 8 and 18 and would like to play Scandinavian fiddle tunes, you should definitely check them out.
