Tune Wishlist
I’ve had my copy of The Fiddler’s Fakebook since 1989, at least. I hadn’t opened it much in the last 20 years, but when I started playing again I noticed that I’d made marks in the index of the book. I don’t remember if these were tunes I’d already learned, tunes I liked and wanted to learn, tunes that were played at a particular session, or what. But I’d kind of like to work my way through them and find out.
These are the names of the tunes ~15 year old me marked in his copy of the Fiddler’s Fakebook:
- Back Step Cindy
- Barbara’s Fancy
- Black Mountain Rag
- Bonaparte’s Retreat
- Breaking Up Christmas
- The Bride’s a Bonnie Thing
- Camp Chase
- Cluckin’ Hen
- Cluck Old Hen
- Double File
- Drunken Hiccups
- Ducks on the Millpond (1)
- Falls of Richmond
- Going Down the River
- Great Big Taters in Sandy Land
- Hanged Man’s Reel
- Jenny Lynn
- Midnight on the Water
- Old Mother Flanagan
- Roustabout
- Sally Ann (B)
- Say Old Man Can You Play The Fiddle
- Shooting Creek
- Sugar Hill
If I knew those tunes before, for the most part I don’t now. I could probably play three of them, and I recognize a few more but doubt I could name them if you played them for me. So between these and the “Fiddle Hell” list, I’ve got a pretty solid list of tunes I’d like to learn.
