Tunes Played in December, 2013
There was a great turnout this month; thanks to everyone who came! Special thanks to Dan, who put together a packet of sheet music and chords for a lot of the tunes we play regularly — I’m going to go through and double check them, and then make it available for download on the site some time in January, probably.
Here are the tunes we played this month:
In G:
- Blackberry Blossom
- The Girl I Left Behind Me
- Little Rabbit, Where’s Your Mama?
- Prettiest Girl in the County
- Rat’s Gone to Rest
- Red Wing
- Seneca Square Dance
- Turkey in the Straw
In D:
- Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine
- Dance All Night
- Dixie
- Johnny, Don’t Get Drunk
- Lazy John
- Liberty
- Marching Through Georgia
- Midnight on the Water
- Whiskey Before Breakfast
- Wind that Shakes the Barley
Vivian Williams apparently has a version of Marching Through Georgia she calls “Tuxedo”. I wonder what the story there is — was it renamed at some point so as not to annoy southerners?
I think those are all the tunes we played; I’ll check the recording to make sure. Thanks again to everyone who came! Have a happy holiday season, and we’ll see you next year.
