Scanned Tune Books

Here you can find some tune books that I have scanned and optimized for reading on a tablet. The forScore app is the best sheet music organizer and reader I’ve tried, so I’ll try to provide versions of whatever I put here in both PDF and forScore format.

Anything here is either old enough that it is in the public domain or has been explicitly released to the public domain by its author. If you are the author of a tune book and would like me to scan, optimize, index, and convert it for use in forScore, drop me a line at info at slowerthandirt dot org.

The Complete Fiddle Tunes I Either Did or Did Not Learn at the Tractor Tavern

Hi OT fiddlers,

This is Gene Silberberg, formerly OT fiddler but now mostly a bluegrass fiddler. I still play some of my favorite OT tunes like The Cheat, Georgia Fox Trot, Ragtime Annie, and a lot more. But the point of this email is to alert you of the existence of a digitized version of the entire Tractor Tavern fiddle book (2007 edition, which was the last one. A friend of mine, Mark Champion, took the large pdf file I had of the entire Tractor Tavern Fiddle Book and used a program to separate it into individual pdf file files for each tune. The link is below. This is not spam, I promise. The digital age is upon us, and carrying around a tablet with a searchable index of tunes sure beat lugging around. So here’s the link:  I’m declaring the Tractor Taver Fiddle book to be public domain so you can copy it to print or make digital versions as you choose. I had a good time doing the book, and I made a few bucks—probably enough to pay for an additional day in a nursing home.

Best regards,

Gene
